This week's lesson was given by the lovely Liz Rich, who taught “God Shall Be with You Forever and Ever,” or Chapter 31 of the Joseph Smith Manual. This lesson was about the Prophet Joseph Smith in Liberty Jail. Liz demonstrated the dimensions of the Liberty Jail by having four ladies stand up in the room, at each corner of the jail. It is tiny! 14 square feet. And they could not stand up all the way. But, he was faithful to the end, through this hard time. "Adversity lasts only a small moment; if we endure well, we will be exalted in the presence of God." Liz guided us in relating this truth to our own lives. We all have our trials, but through faith in Jesus Christ, and through striving to become more like him in charity, service, and humility, we can endure our trials and come out better people. I loved one of the comments that we often go to the Lord much quicker in times of trial than other times. No wonder God gives us trials - He is teaching us to come to Him. Thanks Liz!
